“He’s perfect for the role but I’m just worried he’s not going to be happy doing some of the more boring tasks that this job requires.”
As a hiring manager facing this dilemma, you need to ask yourself a few questions:
Were you brutally honest about the less attractive aspects of the role?
Is the candidate employed?
Is the candidate actively exploring other similar opportunities?
If the answer is a resounding “YES” to all of those questions, then stop overthinking it!
Don’t make the mistake of thinking you know someone better than they know themselves.
This person is leaving a steady job to pursue your position (which you were very honest about) over several competing opportunities. Seems pretty convincing to me!
