Where’s The Feedback?
By Kevin Roth
Candidate: “I’m checking in to see if there was any feedback from my interview last week.”
Hiring Manager: “We won’t have any feedback until we get through the rest of the interviews in another week.”
Let’s be better than this. Candidate experience is critical, especially if you have any interest whatsoever in landing a high caliber hire.
Think if the shoe was on the other foot.
Hiring Manager: “The team really loved you and we want to know if you are interested in moving forward!”
Candidate: “I would prefer to not share my thoughts until I meet with the rest of the companies that I’m scheduled with.”
Doesn’t feel too good, does it?
Feedback doesn’t have to be concrete as to whether you’re definitely moving forward with that person. Just provide something! Give the candidate some reason to actually remain interested and feel somewhat good about themselves while you play out the rest of the field.
