Due to the pandemic, you were terminated from a full-time job at a company you loved (or tolerated). Once the city reopens, you may receive messages from recruiters asking if you’re interested in temporary roles. While you might think otherwise initially, there are benefits to temp assignments! Here are three reasons why full-time workers often think they should avoid temporary roles and why they’re worth rethinking.
- “Once I start doing temp, I won’t be able to do anything else.” Fear not! Taking on a temporary position after years of working full-time won’t scare off employers. They will appreciate your drive to get back to work in addition to your years of full-time experience.
- “I don’t want to take on a role that only lasts a few months.” Assignments only a few months long can be extended to anywhere from six months to a year because of great performance. You may even end up with a full-time offer at the end of your assignment!
- “Temping will distract me from my goal of getting another full-time job.” Any great recruiter will keep your full-time job goal in mind and make the process easier for you. While you’re working and gaining experience, someone else is lining up your dream job!
I hope you’re doing your best to keep happy, healthy, and safe!
